About this project
Keith Haring was a famous pop and street artist who was born in Pennsylvania. In 1978 he moved to New York City where he was determined to create a true public art. Thus, he found a highly effective medium to reach a wide audience, the NYCās subway. Haring started to draw in white chalk upon unused advertising panels covered with matte black paper that he found in the stations.Ā
Keith got his art seen everywhere, from public murals to museums around the world. He was also known for drawing cartoons and his activism in promoting AIDS awareness. He died of AIDS-related complications on 1990.Ā
Haringās portfolio reflects his life and work. This responsive website was built with a black background to highlight his vibrant artwork, and it pays tribute to the canvases he used in the New York subway.Ā Ā
